About this model
A rounded grey stone with a mottled, purplish surface and rough texture. It looks like weathered granite or volcanic rock. The stone is about half a foot in each direction, a small object that fits in a corner of a square.
Scatter it across rocky ground, mountain trails, cave floors and riverbanks. It adds weight and colour variety to a scatter of stones. On its own it is minor clutter; clustered with others, it can suggest a rocky slope or loose scree. Its darker tone sits well among mossy boulders or at the edge of a cold mountain tarn. A few beside a campfire ring make a convincing hearth.
Ideas for the table
- A trail of mottled stones marks the path to a hidden hermit's cave.
- One stone among many is actually a dormant rock creature that wakes when struck.
- The party builds a cairn from these stones to honour a fallen companion.
