Build the battle map. Then fight on it.
Tabletop turns a browser tab into a painted miniature table: realistic rooms, torchlight, animated minis, a ruler that counts feet and a turn tracker that stays out of the way. No rules engine. Nothing to install.

Owlbear Rodeo's simplicity, in three dimensions
It builds a place that looks like a miniature table, puts minis on it, measures their moves in feet, keeps the turn order, and gets out of the way. Your books and your rulings stay in charge.
Room tool
Pick a kit (Dungeon, Castle, Tavern, Crypt, Cave, Manor, Cottage), drag a rectangle: floor and walls, corners correct, one undo step.
Tile brush
Paint floors and walls that snap to the grid and orient themselves. Doorways, archways and windows replace a wall segment.
A ruler in feet
Drag a mini and the feet count as it goes, with waypoints and your table's diagonal rule. Heights count: the archer on the wall is a climb away.
Initiative and HP
Start combat, roll, next turn. The current mini glows and its movement resets. HP, conditions, size and a portrait on every token card.
Light that reads
Torches with real shadows, bloom on flames, a sun fitted to the map, image-based lighting per time of day.
Your own minis
Drop any .glb: Hero Forge, Meshy, Sketchfab, Draco and meshopt included. Any image becomes a standee token.
Paint a map. Take it with you.
A tile brush in miniature. Everything you paint becomes a real scene recipe using the same asset ids the app ships, so the map you make on this page imports into the table after you sign up.
Runs the fight like a table does
Press Play and the editor disappears. What is left is the map, Move and Measure, the grid toggle, the top-down view and the initiative tracker. Drag a mini and the ruler counts the feet; Space adds a waypoint so a route around a pillar is charged fairly.
- Movement accumulates per turn and shows next to the name
- Diagonals your way: 5 ft, 5/10 ft, or true distance
- Heights count, on any surface
- Pings by double-click, a faint grid you can switch off

Two more pieces of the app, running on this page
The ruler and the tracker below import the app's own measuring and turn-order functions. They are the product, not a mock-up of it.
Session one is a click
Five finished scenes on the welcome screen, built from the library in a few seconds. Real screenshots, not renders.

The Weary Traveller
A candlelit tavern: bar, hearth, tables, a stranger in the corner.

Hollowdeep Cells
Torchlit stone corridors, a guard room, cells and a treasure vault.

Crypt of the Pale Knight
A moonlit graveyard and the crypt beneath it, skeletons rising.

Ambush on the Forest Road
A dirt road through pines and boulders: the classic roadside ambush.

Castle Gate at Dusk
Curtain walls, a gatehouse, a courtyard and the road up to it.

Realistic only, and it all fits
96 generated PBR surfaces and structure pieces, 226 photoscanned props from Poly Haven, and 9 rigged, animated characters, every one authored to the same 5-foot cell. Wall families come with matching doorways, archways, windows, parapets and battlements, so a doorway lines up with the wall it replaces.

Describe a scene, import a map
Scene recipes describe a map as high-level operations: fill this rectangle, wall this perimeter, scatter trees here. The repository ships a guide and an asset catalog written for AI assistants, so a sentence can become a grid-correct scene you import in one step.

Questions people ask
What is Tabletop?
A browser-based 3D virtual tabletop for D&D and similar games. You build a battle map from a realistic library, then run the fight on it with miniatures, a ruler in feet and an initiative tracker.
Do I need an account?
Yes. The app is available to signed-in users. Sign up with an email and password, a one-time email link, or Google, GitHub or Discord where the host has enabled them.
What does it cost?
Sign-up is free. The library is CC0 and the server is self-hostable, so a group can run its own copy.
Does it have rules automation?
No. It tracks HP, conditions, initiative and movement and measures distance, but does not roll attacks or resolve rules.
Does it support remote play?
Not yet. Today one screen is the table; groups share it in person or over a screen share. A shared player view is the next planned feature.
Which systems does it fit?
Anything on a 5-foot square grid: D&D of every edition, Pathfinder, most OSR games. The diagonal rule is a setting.
Ready to put a map on the table?
