About this model
A lumpy, elongated stone with a sandy yellow surface and rough, pitted texture. It looks like sandstone or limestone. The stone is about half a foot in every direction, a small piece on the grid.
Use it in deserts, sandy riverbeds, coastal cliffs and quarries. Its warm colour suits arid and coastal settings. A scatter of these makes the ground feel broken and natural, and a pile can mark a cairn or a place where something was buried. Set a few against the base of a sea cliff or along a sandy path to a lighthouse. They also look right around a desert oasis, half sunk into the sand.
Ideas for the table
- A cairn of yellow stones marks a desert well that has been poisoned.
- Sand worms disturb the yellow stones before bursting out of the dunes.
- The party finds a hollow stone among the scatter, holding an old message from a lost expedition.
