The place

Setting: Dusk, a warm sun low over the battlements

Stone curtain walls with parapets and battlements, a gatehouse with an archway you can walk through, a courtyard with a well and stores, and the road climbing to the gate. It is built in three dimensions on purpose: the wall walk is a real 10-foot-high surface, and the ruler charges the climb.

What the recipe places

  • 6 floor and road ops
  • 11 wall runs
  • 43 props, lines and scatters
  • 10 lights and effects
  • 9 miniatures

Close-up.

Encounters it was built for

  • Holding the gate: defenders on the wall walk, attackers on the road, the archway as the objective.
  • A night infiltration over the wall; the top-down view shows the guard routes.
  • Parley at the gate that turns into a fight in the courtyard.

Tips

  • The Castle kit in the room tool builds walls with matching parapets and battlements in one drag.
  • Place a miniature on the wall walk and drag it; the readout says how many feet up it is.
  • Use pings (double-click) to point players at the gatehouse without touching their tokens.
