About this model
A small wedge of rock with a pale, sandy top and reddish, layered sides. It looks like a broken piece of sandstone. The stone is about half a foot in each direction, a small piece on the grid.
Use it in desert canyons, dry riverbeds, quarries and rocky trails. A scatter of these makes red-rock landscapes and badlands feel convincing. As clutter it does not block movement, but piled together it can suggest rubble or a recent rockfall. The pale top catches sunlight, so it looks good under a harsh midday light setting. Several placed around a mesa or a dry waterfall make the cliff feel like it is slowly crumbling.
Ideas for the table
- Fresh rock fragments at the canyon floor reveal that someone triggered the rockslide deliberately.
- A sandstone wedge has been carved with the sign of a desert nomad clan.
- A basilisk's lair is littered with stones like this, mixed with petrified victims.
