About this model
Smooth, warm brown wooden floorboards with a reddish polish and fine grain running in long planks. It looks like a well-kept house or inn floor. One tile covers a single 5 ft square and lies flat. Stretching the boards across a whole building makes it feel warm even before any furniture goes down.
Use it for taverns, merchant homes, ship decks, libraries and town halls. Wood reads instantly as indoors and comfortable, and it sets a cosier mood than stone. At the table, polished boards are good for creaking floors, spilled ale, and rolling tankards when a fight breaks out.
Ideas for the table
- A brawl in a polished tavern sends tankards rolling across the floorboards as the bard keeps playing.
- A creaking board in a merchant's study gives away the party's position during a burglary.
- The floor of a ship's cabin hides a compartment with forged papers.
