About this model
A square of wooden decking with raised plank sides, like one section of a covered bridge or walkway. It is about 5 ft square and 2.5 ft high at the side rails. The planks look sturdy but weathered, as if the crossing has taken years of carts and boots.
Chain several to cross streams, chasms or moats, or to build a raised boardwalk through a swamp. The sides give a little cover to anyone crouched on the bridge, while the narrow width funnels everyone into a single line. A bridge is the place for duels, tolls, and troll ambushes.
Ideas for the table
- A troll demands a toll at the middle of a wooden bridge over a ravine.
- Bandits cut the ropes at one end of a plank bridge while the party is crossing.
- A swamp boardwalk winds between huts on stilts, and lizardfolk wait below the planks.
