About this model
Old grey-brown floorboards, faded and scuffed, with darker gaps between uneven planks. It looks like the floor of an abandoned house, a barn loft or a cheap boarding house. Each tile covers a 5 ft square and lies flat. Mixed with patches of the polished boards, it can show a room where only part has been repaired.
Use it for derelict buildings, haunted manors, dockside warehouses and the upper rooms of poor inns. Its tired look tells players that a place has been neglected. Old boards are good for rot, weak spots and things hidden underneath, so it suits exploration as much as combat.
Ideas for the table
- A rotten section of floor gives way beneath the heaviest character in a haunted manor.
- Squatters in a dockside warehouse have pried up boards to hide stolen goods.
- Something scratches beneath the floorboards of an abandoned inn each night at midnight.
