About this model
A lush green grass surface with a slight sheen, as if the blades are still wet from rain or morning dew. The tone is a healthy mid green with darker patches, suited to meadows and well-watered lawns. A single tile covers one 5 ft square and lies flush with the ground.
This is the base layer for pastures, village greens, noble gardens and the open field where two warbands meet. Large areas of it give a calm backdrop, so the things you place on top, a lone tree, a broken wagon, a ring of standing stones, carry the eye. It is open ground with no cover of its own, which makes ranged attackers dangerous.
Ideas for the table
- A summer fair on the village green turns violent when a cutpurse is caught and his friends draw steel.
- Two noble houses settle a dispute by duel on a dewy lawn at dawn, and the party are the seconds.
- A pegasus lands in an open meadow, and the players must calm it before hunters reach the field.
