About this model
A tired, uneven grass surface, olive green and thin in places where pale earth shows through. It looks like a well-trodden field late in a dry summer, or a hillside grazed down by sheep. One tile fills a 5 ft square and lies flat on the terrain.
It works best at the edges of things: around a farmhouse, along a road verge, near a camp where people have walked back and forth for days. Swapping a lush lawn for this tile instantly makes a place feel poorer, older or more remote. It offers no cover, but it pairs well with low walls and fences that do.
Ideas for the table
- Bandits ambush travellers at a roadside inn whose yard is worn to patchy grass by wagons and horses.
- An old battlefield of thin grass still holds a buried standard that a ghostly knight wants returned.
- Goblins have grazed a stolen flock on a hillside, and the bare patches lead straight to their lair.
