About this model
A spreading tree with a short, twisting trunk and a broad crown of small silvery-green leaves, closer to an olive than a palm. It is wide, about 14 ft by 13.5 ft, and stands 11 ft tall, so its crown shades roughly three squares by three.
Plant it in a warm-climate courtyard, a coastal orchard, a Mediterranean-style villa or a dry island. It gives sunny scenes shade and texture. In a fight the trunk offers cover, the low branches can be climbed, and the canopy hides a lookout or an archer from anyone on the ground.
Ideas for the table
- An assassin waits in the branches above the villa courtyard, watching the party's host.
- The oldest tree in the grove bears a single golden fruit that every faction on the island wants.
- A swarm of birds explodes from the tree when the party's scout climbs it, revealing their position.
