About this model
A chunky, weathered boulder with flat broken faces and patches of orange lichen and grey stain. It is roughly 4 ft by 6 ft across and stands 3.5 ft tall, so it covers about one by one and a bit squares and comes up to a human's chest.
It fits hillsides, mountain passes, riverbeds and the edges of dungeon caverns. On the battle map it is solid cover for anyone crouching behind it and a natural low perch to climb onto for a better view. Put two or three together to create a choke point on a trail, or a single one in an open field so archers have somewhere to fight from.
Ideas for the table
- Bandits wait behind a lichen-covered boulder at the bend of a mountain road, ready to loose arrows at the first wagon.
- A stone giant uses this boulder as a seat while it argues with the party about a toll.
- The entrance to a dwarven vault opens when the right rune on the boulder's flat face is pressed.
