About this model
A rounded chunk of tan sandstone with a rough, sugary surface and soft edges worn down by weather. It is tiny on the map, about half a foot wide and barely raised from the ground. It looks soft enough to crumble under a boot heel.
It suits dry canyons, sandy riverbeds and the approach to a desert ruin. Group several with larger rocks to make the ground look eroded rather than empty. In play it is decoration or a prop that a player might pick up and lob to distract a guard. A row of them can also mark a boundary the players are told not to cross.
Ideas for the table
- A trail of sandstone pebbles laid in a line leads from a dry wash to a hidden tomb door.
- A character throws a stone like this to draw the sentry's eye while the rogue slips past.
- A rockfall leaves loose sandstone scattered across a canyon pass just as gnolls spring an ambush.
