About this model
A blocky rock with a dark reddish-brown surface that looks glossy, almost like weathered iron ore or wet stone. It is roughly rectangular. The rock is about half a foot wide and 1 ft long, small on the grid.
Use it in mines, quarries, volcanic landscapes and riverbeds. Its colour suggests minerals, which makes it a natural target for prospectors and dwarves. On the map it is a small piece of clutter, useful for scattering around a mine entrance or a forge yard. It also reads well on a blacksmith's floor or a cart loaded with ore. A small heap of them beside a mine shaft tells players the seam is still being worked.
Ideas for the table
- A dwarf miner recognises the rock as high-grade iron ore and wants to know where the party found it.
- A rust monster has been feeding on rocks like this one around the abandoned mine.
- The rock is warm to the touch, a sign of a fire elemental sleeping beneath the quarry.
