About this model
A tall kite shaped shield painted with bold red streaks across a white field, with battered edges and worn paint. It looks like a knight's shield that has seen real fighting. The shield is about 2 ft wide and 4.5 ft tall, under half a foot thick.
Lean it against a wall in an armoury, hang it in a great hall, prop it beside a tent at a tourney field or leave it on a battlefield. It adds heraldry and history to a scene. The device painted on it can identify a family or order, and players may want to claim it as loot or return it to its owner.
Ideas for the table
- The shield bears the arms of a knight who supposedly died a decade ago, yet it is freshly painted.
- A dying soldier asks the party to carry his shield home to his family.
- At the tourney, someone tampers with the shield straps of the favourite before the joust.
