About this model
A heavy cross-peen hammer with a dark forged iron head and a long, worn wooden handle. It stands about a foot tall when propped upright, a small hand tool rather than a war hammer, and it looks well used.
Place it on an anvil, a workbench or the floor of a forge to sell the scene as a working smithy. It has no tactical weight on the grid, but it is a good prop for interaction: something to hand to a dwarf NPC, a weapon of opportunity for an unarmed character, or an item the party must retrieve. In a ransacked village, a hammer left lying in the mud says the smith left in a hurry.
Ideas for the table
- The village smith has vanished, and his hammer lies beside a cold forge next to a set of oversized clawed footprints.
- A tavern brawl spills into the smithy and a commoner grabs the hammer from the anvil to join in.
- Dwarven ruins hold an ancient hammer still resting where its owner set it down, and lifting it wakes the stone guardians.
