About this model
A soft green moss surface with grey stone and earth showing through in patches. It looks damp and springy, like the floor of an old ruin, a shaded riverbank or a cave mouth. Each tile fills a single 5 ft square and sits flat on the terrain.
Use it to show that nature has moved back into a place: overgrown ruins, sunken temples, forgotten roads and the edges of fey glades. It blends well with flagstone and stone walls, so you can fade a building into wilderness. At the table, mossy stone is a good excuse for slipping or muffled footsteps, depending on what the scene needs.
Ideas for the table
- A sunken temple's mossy courtyard is home to a shambling mound that looks just like the rest of the greenery.
- Footsteps on the moss make no sound, which is why the party never heard the elves surround them.
- A trail of torn moss leads from a ruin to the river, where a body was dragged.
