About this model
A long wooden storage chest with plank sides, a flat lid, iron corner fittings and a rope handle at one end. It is about 2.5 ft long, 1.5 ft deep and 1 ft tall, sitting inside one square. The planks show scuffs from being dragged across floors.
Stack or scatter them in a warehouse, a ship's hold, a barracks or the back of a wagon. Crates are dependable battle-map clutter: low cover, something to hop onto, and a container to search. The rope handle suggests it gets carried around, which suits caravans and smuggling.
Ideas for the table
- A crate marked as salted fish holds rifles bound for a rebel group.
- Dock thieves are carrying a crate off the pier just as the party walks up.
- A crate in the barracks storeroom has been opened from the inside.
