About this model
A tall, weathered barn of grey planks raised on wooden posts, with a pitched roof and a lean-to shed at one side. It covers about 15 ft by 25 ft, three squares by five, and stands about 18 ft tall. Its raised floor and grey timber suggest a granary or hay store that has seen many harsh winters.
Use it on farms, rural villages and lonely roadsides. A barn hides livestock, wagons, smuggled goods or a monster, and its loft makes a natural vantage point. Inside the walls block sight, the hay burns quickly and the stilts below give somewhere to crawl.
Ideas for the table
- A farmer begs the party to deal with whatever has been killing his cows inside the old barn.
- Smugglers store crates of stolen weapons in a barn loft.
- A barn fire spreads during a fight with fire beetles, and the party must save the horses.
