About this model
A traditional wooden spinning wheel with a large spoked wheel, a treadle and a slanted bench frame, finished in dark aged timber. It takes up about 1.5 ft by 3.5 ft and stands 3 ft high, filling most of a single square.
It belongs in a cottage, a weaver's workshop, a farmhouse kitchen or the tower room of a fairy tale. It gives a domestic scene a lived-in feel and tells players exactly whose home they are in. In a scuffle it is a delicate piece of clutter that blocks a square and breaks easily if someone is shoved into it.
Ideas for the table
- A spinning wheel turns on its own in an empty cottage, spinning thread from something that is not wool.
- The village spinner has vanished, but the half-finished yarn on her wheel is knotted into a coded message.
- A hag disguised as a kindly grandmother sits at her wheel and offers the party a bargain while the thread runs red.
