About this model
A tall stinging nettle with a straight stem and paired, toothed leaves stacked up its length. It looks lush and green. The plant is about half a foot wide and half a foot tall in its listed footprint, a slim weed on the map.
Place it in thickets along roadsides, in graveyards, behind barns or in an overgrown garden. Nettles grow where people have abandoned things, so they suit ruined cottages and forgotten paths. A patch can be rough going for anyone crossing it. Planted against a crumbling wall, a row of them hides the bottom courses of stone and makes the ruin feel swallowed by the land.
Ideas for the table
- Tall nettles hide the entrance to a burrow where a wererat keeps its stolen goods.
- A child dares the party to cross the nettle patch to touch the old gravestone.
- Nettle stings reveal that the 'healer' is actually immune to them, a sign of something unnatural.
