About this model
A long straight section of fortress wall in rough sandy stone, with three arched recesses along one face that read as buttressed alcoves. It is a big piece: about 11.5 ft thick, 50 ft long and 26.5 ft high, so it spans ten squares of the grid in one go.
This is the workhorse for laying out castle perimeters quickly. The arches suggest storerooms or shelters built into the base, which gives low-level fighters something to duck into while archers on the walkway above rain arrows down. Set it beside a gate or a tower and it instantly defines a defended line that the party must either breach, scale or sneak around.
Ideas for the table
- Refugees shelter in the arched alcoves under the wall while the party holds back a raiding force in the yard.
- One of the arches is bricked up recently, and behind it the characters find a sealed armoury.
- A siege engine targets this length of wall, and the party has three rounds to evacuate the walkway before the first stone lands.
