Fort Wall Thin Straight 4, a walls, doors and windows 3D model for D&D battle maps

About this model

A straight run of fortress curtain wall built from rough, weathered stone blocks with a slightly uneven top edge. It is a thin section, about 8.5 ft thick and 25 ft long, which covers five squares of the grid, and it rises roughly 29 ft, taller than most town houses.

Use it to close off a castle courtyard, a border keep or the outer ring of a ruined fort. At that height nobody steps over it, so it blocks sight and movement completely and splits a map into inside and outside. Climbers need rope, magic or a very good Athletics roll, which makes the top of the wall a natural vantage point for archers once someone gets up there.

Ideas for the table

  • Goblins have lashed a ladder to the outside of the wall and the party spots it only when the first raider reaches the top.
  • A prisoner is lowered over the wall on a rope at midnight and the characters must catch her before the patrol rounds the corner.
  • Part of the wall has been chalked with siege marks, and the players must work out which section the attackers plan to breach.
