About this model
A grey-green steel toolbox with a hinged lid propped open and a heavy latch. It looks old and well used. It is about 1.5 ft long and a foot deep and tall. Its paint is chipped round the latch, and the open lid shows an empty tray. It is easy to carry, so it can move with the party. Placed beside a broken machine or a locked door, it hints at a way through.
Put it in garages, workshops, vehicles and maintenance tunnels. It tells players there are tools at hand: something to open a lock, repair a machine or improvise a weapon. It is also a classic place to hide something small.
Ideas for the table
- The toolbox holds exactly the tool needed to fix the broken lift.
- A false bottom in the toolbox hides stolen jewellery.
- The mechanic will lend the box only if the party helps with a repair.
