About this model
A spread of dark fabric canopies on poles with merchandise, benches and crates beneath, like a travelling merchant's pavilion. It covers about 20 ft by 19 ft, four squares on a side, and stands about 6.5 ft tall. Its dark cloth makes it feel more mysterious than a bright market awning, suited to unusual traders.
Use it in markets, travelling fairs, war camps or nomad gatherings. The canopies give shade and concealment, and the clutter beneath gives cover in a skirmish. It is a natural place for haggling, rare goods, shady deals and secrets hidden under a counter.
Ideas for the table
- A travelling merchant sells a cursed amulet, and the party must find her before she moves on.
- Thieves cut the guy ropes and drop the canopies on a crowd of buyers while they loot the stock.
- A rival merchant pays the party to find out where the pavilion gets its strange wares.
