About this model
A young oak with a thinner trunk and a loose, airy crown of green leaves. It spreads about 14 ft by 13 ft, close to three squares, and stands around 15 ft tall. Young trees like this also suit the edge of a clearing where the forest is slowly reclaiming an old field.
Use it to fill gaps between bigger trees, line a lane, or dot an orchard or garden. Its light canopy gives only partial concealment, but the trunk still offers a little cover to someone pressed against it. A row of small oaks makes a natural boundary on an outdoor map without walling off the space.
Ideas for the table
- A young oak planted on a hero's grave has started to whisper at night.
- Scouts use a line of small oaks along a field edge as cover while they count the enemy camp.
- An orchard of young oaks hides a gnome's burrow, and the gnome wants help with a mole problem.
