About this model
A shallow ring of rough grey stones set around a sunken ash bed, the kind of fire pit built at a camp that gets used night after night. It measures about 5 ft by 4.5 ft and rises only 1.5 ft, roughly one square across.
Put it at the centre of a camp, a bandit hideout, a hunting lodge clearing or a stone-age village. Add a light source in the pit and its glow casts real shadows across the surrounding tokens, which is ideal for a night watch. Characters can step over the low stones, but anyone pushed into the embers is in for a bad moment.
Ideas for the table
- The party's night watch is broken when something circles just beyond the fire pit's light, testing which side is darkest.
- Bandits around a fire pit are arguing over shares, giving the party a chance to listen before they strike.
- Cold ash in an old fire pit still holds the bones of a meal and a half-burnt map the previous campers tried to destroy.
