About this model
A small iron lantern with a tall cage of dark metal around a glass chimney and a carrying handle on top. It looks like an oil lamp a miner, watchman or traveller would carry. The lantern is about half a foot across and 1 ft tall.
Set it on a table in a guard room, hang it at a mine entrance or leave it beside a campfire. Lights cast real shadows on the map, so a single lantern can define what is visible in a dark dungeon room and where threats can lurk unseen. It is also a natural object for players to pick up and carry, or for an enemy to smash.
Ideas for the table
- A lantern left burning in an abandoned mine shaft suggests someone went down there very recently.
- The lighthouse keeper's iron lantern is missing, and a ship is due to pass the rocks tonight.
- Shadows cast by the lantern reveal a figure standing where the party sees nobody.
