About this model
A four-poster bed with a dark carved timber frame, spindle rails along the foot and sides, and white bedding. Its style is heavy and old-fashioned, the sort found in a manor or castle bedchamber. It is about 5 ft wide, 6.5 ft long and 5 ft tall, so it takes up a single square across and spills into a second along its length.
Use it to furnish a lord's bedroom, a haunted guest room or the master suite of a merchant's townhouse. In a fight the bed is an obstacle: creatures can crawl under it, leap across it or hide behind the posts. It also makes a natural centre for night-time scenes, from assassinations to dream visitations.
Ideas for the table
- An assassin hides beneath the bed, and the party must protect the sleeping duke without waking him.
- The bed curtains move on their own, and something whispers from inside whenever a candle goes out.
- A ledger hidden in the bed frame lists every bribe the mayor has taken.
