About this model
A shorter section of castle wall built from rough sandy stone. It is 5 ft wide, 1.5 ft thick and 8 ft tall, filling one grid edge. It is broad and blocky, about the height of a single storey.
Use it for inner courtyard walls, outer baileys or ruined fortifications. It blocks movement and sight but is easier to climb than a full wall. It offers full cover to anyone behind it. It suits an inner ward, a garden enclosure or the tumbled ruin of a larger wall. A grappling hook gets a character over it quickly, which makes for a tense infiltration. Pair it with taller sections to show where the outer wall rises.
Ideas for the table
- Bandits use a ruined castle wall as a hideout.
- A courtyard wall hides a garden where the castle's ghosts walk.
- The party scales a low castle wall to sneak into the bailey.
