About this model
A tall-sided settle bench painted in a faded dark red, with solid shaped ends, a seat and a shelf beneath. It is about 4 ft wide, 1.5 ft deep and 3 ft tall, a little under a square.
Place it by a hearth in a farmhouse, in a tavern corner, a church porch or a waiting room. It gives NPCs somewhere to sit and gives a room an old rural feel. During a fight its high sides offer half cover and the shelf underneath can hide a small object or a crawling child.
Ideas for the table
- An old man dozing on the settle by the fire is actually a disguised spy listening to every conversation.
- A family heirloom is tucked under the bench shelf, and the party must find it before the bailiffs do.
- Brawlers knock the settle over, trapping someone underneath its heavy sides.
