About this model
A low-growing gazania with a rosette of dark, glossy leaves and small orange flowers. It is about a foot across and half a foot tall.
Use it in sunny gardens, palace courtyards, warm coastal settings and desert oases. It is decoration. Bright orange flowers stand out against sand or stone and draw the eye to borders or planters. A cluster of them can mark a garden path, a grave or the edge of a lawn. They also suit a planter on a city terrace, where they add a splash of colour against plain stone and help a roof garden look tended.
Ideas for the table
- A palace garden's orange flowers close at sunset, marking the start of the curfew.
- Bright blooms in an oasis garden hide a bed of venomous snakes.
- A merchant prince's gardener is desperate to save his gazanias from a creeping blight.
