About this model
A boxy wood-panelled microwave or countertop oven with a dark glass door, an old control strip and a trailing cable. It looks decades old. It is about 3.5 ft wide, 2.5 ft deep and 2 ft tall. The wood panelling and dial controls feel decades out of date. It fits well in a rented flat or a staff kitchen that nobody has updated. Players will often poke at an odd appliance, so it is a good place to hide a small clue.
Place it in kitchens, break rooms and run-down apartments. It sets the period and the mood of a space. It can also be used for a story beat, such as a device that hums when something is near.
Ideas for the table
- The microwave clock is frozen at the exact time of the murder.
- Something inside the microwave is still warm.
- The old oven sparks when the haunting begins.
