About this model
A young fir tree with a narrow, irregular shape and dark green needles. It is about 7.5 ft by 7 ft and 14 ft tall, covering roughly a two by two block of squares. Its outline is ragged and lopsided, as if it has grown in the shade of bigger trees.
Plant it at forest edges, mountain slopes and clearings. Young firs fill gaps between larger trees. They offer partial cover and slow movement. Plant them along the edge of a clearing to soften the treeline. A clump of them hides a crouching scout. They also look right on a windswept slope above the snowline. In winter scenes they help break up a white expanse.
Ideas for the table
- Goblins hide among the young firs, waiting to ambush travellers.
- A sapling fir planted on a grave marks where a hero is buried.
- A winter festival decorates a young fir in the village square.
